This is all really good advice. Especially the part about people being basically good. So important to remember this! Actually, in my opinion, MOST people are basically good. There's a small subset of people that aren't, and in a lot of cases they get into positions of power in our society - they're drawn to it. That's one of the reasons our world (especially here in the U.S.) has the problems it has, because the people in power don't make decisions that make sense for most people; they're too busy lining their own pockets and plotting for more power. There's a book written by a very astute sociologist on this, called Corruptible: Who Gets Power and How It Changes Us, which is very good. Anyway, I've gone off on a tangent here. I feel sorry for your wife, having worked at Comcast - don't get me started on how much I hate that corporation! The people in power there are truly bad people. I'm glad she got out of that position. I’ve got no idea what Mike Rinder said about the RPF in the days of being the PR guy, but I have seen/heard him talk about it since leaving on UA-cam and/or podcasts. I vaguely recall him making a statement similar to the one the questioner asked about. Everything you said in your answer about how people handle conflicting information is valid, and I think you gave a great explanation in your response. With that in mind I hope you’ll take this as an expansion of your answer rather than an attempt to negate it. I’ve never heard Mike refer to the RPF as a positive thing in itself, and I have no reason to think he is dismissive of its shittiness or ignorant of its part in the Scientology mind control machine. This is just yet another reality to add to the two you talked about. Mike spent a lot of time around the people working in close proximity to Miscavige. Many people have described what that involved above and beyond the normal lousy working conditions of the Sea Org. Imagine an executive for whom Miscavige was setting impossible demands. Imagine them being denied sleep, publicly humiliated and beaten, going through any of Miscavige’s custom punishments, sleeping under their desk for months because they weren’t allowed to go home at night and so on. Those are the people I believe Mike was referring to when he talked about some people preferring the RPF to their normal role. It’s not that it wasn’t awful. It’s that it was a preferable awful to their normal awful.

When I saw the title, I was expecting a conservative kicking the Lower Class. The "poor" are a diverse bunch of people, and obviously, a lot of people are poor, because they don't think well in the first place. Just like there are a lot of people that can't accumulate anything, because they're just too nice, there are a lot of low functioning sociopaths can't accumulate anything, because they're always getting into trouble.

Not economic, but career area. Practical critical thinking is commonly practiced by blue-collar workers. They fix practical problems daily and develop problem solving through repetition. Obviously not all of them are the sharpest tools in the shed, but I've met a substantial number of trade professionals excellent analytical and logical minds. One guy said "Just because I work with my hands, doesn't mean I can't use my brain."

Scientology is right about alot

I ran into a Scientologist on Medium, he wrote a long article on transgender people. Basically telling trans people that they are trans because their soul (or whatever Scientologists call a soul) is a gender and if you incarnate into a opposing gender body then that’s how you become trans and that transition is a very bad idea it’s better to just live as is and hopefully you will reincarnate as your correct gender next time. It was a very shitty idea because the dude was basically telling trans people that it’s no biggie and when you die you will just come back correctly next time. This may create the idea that speeding up the process and skipping to a new body via reincarnation would be a fast track to the perfect transition. Not a good idea.
